IT Fair robotics workshop and Sumo competition
When? This 3 hour workshop will start at 11:30am on the 26th of February.Where? In the concourse of the University Center.
What?
Ever wanted to build and program an autonomous robot? This is your chance!
During the IT Fair, 30 individuals with absolutely no required knowledge of robotics or programming will build and program a robot that will compete in an autonomous Sumo match. Ten teams of 3 participants will build a basic robotic mobile platform and learn how to create software code assisted by a graphical user interface, all of this in a 3-hour workshop!
The teams will first build a basic differential steering mobile platform by following detailed graphical instructions. The completed mobile platform will be equipped with 2 motors, one light sensor and one sonar sensor. Then the instructor will guide the participants through their first robotic software code. All qualifying teams will have the choice to modify their own platforms and create their own software code for the competition or keep the platform as is and utilize an existing sumo competition code already loaded in each robot. Once the robots are successfully built and the first basic program successfully working, then the teams will qualify to enter the Sumo competition.
Challenge yourself, experience Robotics!
